Since the conflict escalated between MMA and AA in Rakhine, northern townships have experienced several incidences of explosions which have resulted hundreds of mine victims. GJ’s operational area in Rathedaung is still a high conflict vulnerable area with the presence of unexploded devices and land mines. This increased presence of landmines and unexploded ordnance in areas has decreased the potentiality of local food production which has generated immediate needs of nutritious food and longer-term food security.

Therefore, Green Journey has implemented Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) activities in 10 villages in Rathedaung township to support the access to agricultural land. This proposed activity is covering liaison with stakeholders, awareness-raising with the most vulnerable group, advocacy and media influence. Moreover, for strengthening the capacity of delivering mine awareness, GJ organized a 3-day TOT training provided by DRC in the first week of December,2021.
